Head Master Bio:
Head Master Jonghyun Yi is a native of Massachusetts and has been training since the age of 4 years old. His father was also an instructor in the Korean Army of both Taekwondo and Hapkido before immigrating to Massachusetts in the 70’s .
At 8 years old he knew that he wanted to become a master of the martial arts and every step he took was to help achieve that goal.
A graduate of St. John’s High School, at 17 he received his 1st dan and became 1 of 2 people in the history of a MA Taekwondo Team to earn a gold medal at the Korean-American Olympic Festival which is an event held every two years.
Master Yi currently holds the rank of 7th Dan in Taekwondo, 6th Dan in both Hapkido and Gumdo. He is a USAT Level 1 coach, and is also a Globally licensed coach for both Poomsae as well as Sparring Athletes with World Taekwondo.
With 37 years of training and over 20 years of teaching experience, Master Yi also majored in Physical Education and Child Psychology in University.
Master Yi continually passes down his love for martial arts and the benefits it holds by helping students excel. He shows his students to not just talk the talk but walk the walk. The culture and philosophy of Evolution Martial Arts carry on students entire lives. Motivating students to be the best versions of themselves is a life long goal. Evolution Martial Arts has many students that go on to Universities such as Oxford, MIT, Tufts, Purdue, Wellesley, Quinnipiac, Utah State, WPI, Northeastern, and Boston University.
In his spare time, Master Yi loves to devise new ways of training, playing Tekken, snowboarding, listening to music, spending time with his family, tuning cars, and enjoying life and the beauty it holds.

Instructor Sudikshya Gurung:
Sue started taekwondo in 2017. Four years later, on June 12, 2021, she received her first dan black belt.
She has great respect and gratitude for taekwondo. This martial art has taught her how to be strong and persevere. Taekwondo has built her values and morals.
Sue had learned to be confident through taekwondo. Starting as a shy 11 year old, she opened up, became more comfortable, and is now the fun, kind, nice, and beautiful friend everyone knows her to be.
Sue hopes she can be a good role model and influence positive behaviors on the students she teaches. She hopes by creating a bond with students, her positive attitude will spread to them.
Born in Nepal, Sue and her family moved to Massachusetts in 2008 and has been living there ever since.
Sue is now 15, a sophomore at Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough.
She is taking all honors and AP courses at her high school, including AP Computer Science Principles and AP US History.
Sue is also involved in her school’s community service club and volunteers at Nepali Class Boston.
Other than taekwondo, Sue enjoys spending time with friends, going to the beach, watching Netflix, and she loves shopping.

Instructor Ishani Saha was born and raised in Massachusetts, and has been doing taekwondo since 2016. Both of her parents were born in the Indian state of West Bengal, before immigrating at the turn of the century.
Taekwondo almost immediately became a major pillar of her life, and two years after starting the martial art, she joined the competition team.
Instructor Ishani was in the Mendon-Upton Regional School District before transferring to the Advanced Math and Science Academy in 9th grade, where she continues to study. She tested for her 1st Dan (1st degree black belt) at 15 years old.
Instructor Ishani is a level 3 instructor who works primarily with students on the younger side. She has been on Evolution Martial Arts’ competition team since August 2018 and joined the leadership team more recently, in May 2020. She initialized her athletic career by competing in local championships, and made her national debut in the 2021 East Grand Prix, held in Greenville, South Carolina.
Ishani’s interest in martial arts blossomed after picking up writing, hoping it would help her write fighting more accurately. She joined the same dojang as her younger brother, after which she acquired the skills she had hoped for– and so much more. Taekwondo awakened a drive in her, improving her confidence, and helping her reach heights she could have never imagined a few years before. Instructor Ishani also formed unbreakable bonds with her fellow students, instructors, and other members of the community at Evolution Martial Arts.
Outside of the dojang, Ishani dreams of being a published author one day, enjoys listening to music, and has grown a passion in learning languages. She is currently studying Spanish, Korean, and Hindi, and is well on her way to fluency with her mother tongue, Bengali.

Instructor Dhruv Shenoy was born in Belgaum, India, and has been residing in Westborough for more than a decade. He has been training since the age of 4 years old where he is currently 15.
Instructor Dhruv is currently a student, studying in Westborough High School. He is in his sophomore year, graduating in the Class of 2024.
Received his 1st poom black belt at the age of 13, and his 2nd dan black belt at the age of 14. He has been on the Team Evolution competition team for the 3 years and is currently serving as co-captain with Instructor Sue and Assistant Master Sanjay Kandadi.
He started taekwondo with the intention of learning self defense, and has since learned many important traits and life lessons. Self control, indomitable spirit, perseverance, confidence, integrity, and focus. just to name a few. These traits help contribute positively into the person he evolves into everyday!
In his spare time, Instructor Dhruv loves to listen to music, watch YouTube, play basketball, and eat lots of food!

Assistant Instructor Aidan was born in San Francisco, California, but moved to Lexington, Massachusetts shortly after and has lived there to this day. He began his training at the age of 4, in 2012.
Through Taekwondo he has made lifelong friendships that would be some of the strongest in his life, and grew to be a stronger, and more confident young man.
When he was 9, he tested for his 1st degree black belt. It was soon after that that he finally began assisting small classes at Musa Total Martial Arts Bedford. However, in the coming weeks, Master Yi moved to Westboro and bid farewell to his old school and students.
Aidan continued assisting at Musa, but then in spring of 2019, he decided to follow his master and transfer to Evolution Martial arts.
Aidan is now 13 years old, has gained his 2nd degree in his 9th year of practice, and is a level 4 assistant instructor who shares his love for Taekwondo with the students he teaches.
Back in Lexington, Aidan is in his final year of middle school at William Diamond Middle School, beginning his preparations for high school.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing baseball, football, golf, snowboarding, and spending time with his friends and family.

Master Candidate Errol started Taekwondo at the age of 14 and received his 1st Dan at the age of 20 in 2011.
He has been working with Team Evo as the Strength and Conditioning coach but now has transitioned back into Taekwondo.
He is Master Yi’s oldest students in MA! We are proud to bring another level of homegrown knowledge, motivation, joy, and passion for teaching Taekwondo to our students!

was born in Massachusetts and has lived there for his entire life. Ryan started taking Taekwondo classes at age 7.
Taekwondo has become very important and influential in his life, and he eventually joined the competition, and leadership team.
He attended Zeh elementary school in Northborough and attended middle school at Robert E. Melican Middle school also in Northborough. He is currently a Freshman and is studying at Algonquin Regional High School.
Ryan Durette is a 1st Poom black belt which he received at age 14, and Level 5 Assistant Instructor. He has been on the competition team for Evolution Martial Arts since 2019 and joined the leadership team around the same time. He only recently began travelling out of state for competitions in 2020.
He was inspired to do martial arts after seeing a poster with a Taekwondo athlete on it. He thought it looked cool so he started attending a demo class after school in 4th grade in the cafeteria at Zeh Elementary where he met Instructor Ken. Not long after Ryan enrolled in Taekwondo. Over the years he’s made irreplaceable friends that he couldn’t imagine life without. Taekwondohelped to improve himself mentally and physically as well as giving him much more confidence than he had before.
When Ryan isn’t at Taekwondo or school he uses the free time he has to talk to friends on Discord, playing video games. He also enjoys socializing with friends outside of school.
